Happy Days – 2026 – Week 13
No Tyrants 3 in Amsterdam and birthday week for Granny and lots of work work work...
I’m writing as I take my fourth of five trains from Utrecht to St Gallen Switzerland. It’s been a long, but productive day as I blasted through emails and projects. I had some time to finish writing this missive.
The last week of March held two special events. It was birthday week for Granny and Indivisible Netherlands gathered to say “No Tyrants” in Amsterdam. Both these events took up a lot of my time and I’m glad they’re successfully completed. :)
Mar 23 – Day 81
Looking out our window on Monday morning, two moving trucks arrived. Our neighbor moved completely out of her house so we could move in in late April! It’s really happening. ::squee::

Mar 24 – Day 82
I spent the day working in Amsterdam and saw this beautiful spring flower arrangement on my way to work at IAE HQ. I had to stop and appreciate them.

I sort of started an American women support group and not only do we text, but we get together in person as well. Building community is so vital these days. We had an evening get together at a member’s home. It wasn’t complete without cheese, chocolate, tea and wine. We all deal differently, but it was good to check in with each other and see how we were doing and most of us are not okay. The level of anxiety and worry is quite high and I am glad were there to give hugs, shoulders and chocolate to each other.
Mar 25 – Day 83

Granny’s enjoyed a beautiful birthday breakfast in Bolinas with one of Grandpa’s amazing home-made cards. So glad to be able to celebrate her as much to let her know just how much we love and appreciate her.
All us “kids (including T)” came together and took care of a problem in the London Cottage and replaced the dishwasher. It felt so good to be able to fix a problem and take off the mental load of figuring out which droid to get, how to get it installed and take care of it all. To let her know about the present, I cut together a video from the films that our friend T had made during the whole process.

Mar 26 – Day 84

Another Thursday working in Amsterdam and it was cold but pretty. I wore my finished resistance cap, soft blue scarf and warm winter jacket - all were very necessary as I walked from Amsterdam Centraal station to IAE HQ.
Mar 27 – Day 85
Another Friday of going to work to host afternoon events for supporters of the Internet Archive. I never tire of watching trains pull into the station.

The beautiful pots of flowers that people have on the streets of Amsterdam really make it a delight.

Mar 28 – Day 86
Saturday was THE day that we had been working towards for months - No Tyrants 3 in Amsterdam. A few of us came together in Utrecht library to make our signs together. David was going to go with me, but it became clear that he was feeling definitely not-well and so Santi came to pick him up before we left for Amsterdam.

We travelled to Amsterdam together and gathered at Museumplein in front of the US Consulate. Eventually there around 350 people united together to say “No Tyrants” and form community with one another.

That evening I went to friends’ house for a dinner party to eat amazingly delicious food and talk about interesting and difficult topics that are better discussed in person. Where nuances can be delved into and questions asked and answers given with more than just 240 characters.

Mar 29 – Day 87
Sunday was a recovery day and looking at photos from around the world from No Kings 3 (No Tyrants here in the NL). This sign from our protest in Amsterdam had a bit of a viral moment and the woman who made it said “I was having an angry moment...”

An amazing volunteer shot and then cut together a video of the protest in Amsterdam and I thought it would be good to include here so you all could get a feel of how people showed up.
