D8 Race Reshuffled: SF Dems Endorse McCoy, New Poll Shows Two-Candidate Fight
After dumping Manny Yekutiel, the city's Democratic Party swung behind Gary McCoy — but a new poll puts Darshini Patel within striking distance with 18 days to go.
The District 8 supervisor race, which covers the Castro, Noe Valley, Glen Park and surrounding neighborhoods, was jolted into a new shape this week after the San Francisco Democratic Party formally rescinded its endorsement of Emanuel "Manny" Yekutiel and threw its weight behind Gary McCoy. San Francisco voters will decide the fate of two interlocking transit funding measures on November 3: Proposition H, a local parcel tax, and Proposition RTM, the Connect Bay Area regional sales tax. Transit advocates say both must pass to keep Muni running at current levels. Prop H would establish a 15-year parcel tax on most San Francisco properties, running from July 2027 through June 2042. The tax is based on building square footage rather than assessed value.
