God opens doors for my writing in exciting ways
Dearly beloved FF&Ss reader fam,
I have a reason to celebrate this month! Last month, I attended the Write2Ignite master class on submitting to magazines with Jesse Florea, the editor in chief of the Focus on the Family magazines. During that masterclass, God gave me the idea for a new book, a children’s poem for Clubhouse Junior and an article for Brio, the magazine for teen girls. I submitted the poem and pitched the article, neither of which was accepted, but I have other ideas for the article.
I can feel your prayers reaching across the miles of internet, because God told me to “Write the vision and make it plain.” When he said that, he didn’t mean it as it was written in Habakkuk 2:2, He meant for me to explore the possibility of light having sound and texture. This led to my poem entitled “The tinkling Twinkle of Fairy Lights.” I’m pasting it below for your reading pleasure.
Before I get to that and this month’s featured book, I have been asked by the Brio editor to look at a crochet pattern she sent me to see if I have any patterns I’ve created that teens can work on with confidence. I’ll keep you posted once I get the pattern written and submitted.
As for my books, I am getting a new devotional ready to be released on 01/07/2027. Here’s your teaser, and a journal prompt. You don’t have to be a writer to be a journal-er. Do you journal? Why or why not. If you wish to share, hit reply and let me know. I always read your responses. Now, without further ado, here is your special poetic treat and your featured book.
The Twinkle Tinkle of Fairy Lights
Twinkle, twinkle, tinkle!
What’s that sound,
Wind chimes singing all around
Or the glow of fairy lights in the evening air,
As I settle into my reading chair.
Close your eyes and listen close,
This is how my story goes.
My eyes don’t see the twinkling lights
I see them through my Spiritual sight
For me God makes these tiny lights
Twinkle and tinkle like chimes in the night.
I reach to feel the warmth of their glow
Like sunshine on the fallen snow
Yet as the stars come out at night
The lights sing out their last “Good night.”

One final question
Do you enjoy this monthly author spotlight? Do you like to see books by fellow Christian fiction and nonfiction authors? Hit reply and let me know. This round robin of featured books will end in December, but if you’d like to see it continue, send me some book recommendations or the names of authors you’d like to see featured each month, and I’ll be happy to feature some if not all of them here for your reading pleasure. If, however, you are a writer who loves to read, and you’d like me to feature your book, hit reply and share that with me as well.
Until next time, happy reading and God bless you.
