Historical Romantasy Promotion

Purple Banner with large golden letters reading "Historical Romantasy." Smaller letters below that say "Jun 1-July 31." On the left side of the graphic, a shirtless guy embraces a woman in a blue dress.

If you enjoy genre-blending romance like the Cambion Club series, you may be interested in a bookfunnel promotion featuring the work of a dozen different historical romantasy authors. We’ve got vampires, shapeshifters, magicians. . . something for every taste!

More about Besotted Books

In my last email, I mentioned that author Andie James is launching a kickstarter for a new historical romance publisher, Besotted Books. The kickstarter will go live on June 9, but you can explore the preview page now.

Dark Green graphic with three feather pens on the left. On the right, white text reads "Besotted Books: For the love of historical romance." At the bottom of the graphic, smaller text reads: (yearning never goes out of style)"

Besotted Books is committed to:

  • Publishing books the Historical Romance community will love while also expanding the genre by embracing all time periods, locations, and whose stories we are telling

  • Allowing new voices into the community and embracing current authors who may be looking for a new home—an alternative to Trad Pub as they turn away from the genre

  • No AI. Period. All of our books will be human written, human edited, and human designed

  • A place readers can come to find new HistRoms they know are written by real people and that they will love

  • An opportunity to buy subscriptions direct from the company instead of supporting large retailers

June Reading Recommendation

As you know, June is Pride Month. If you’re looking for LGBTQIA+ Regency fiction, I recommend Hari Conner’s YA graphic novel I Shall Never Fall in Love. It’s a loose Austen retelling with queer and BIPOC characters. It’s sweet rather than spicy, and both the story and the art are absolutely adorable.

Seriously, I loved I Shall Never Fall in Love so much I gave a copy of it to my tween daughter. She, in turn, recommended it to her father when he needed to pick a YA romance for a reading challenge. So it comes with the approval of half our household!

Happy reading, folks!
