Character Art + Free Books!

I treated myself to character art for the first time in a long time, and you, dear Rollins Readers, get to be the first to see the final version!

May I present Lawrence Galliard and Jane Carrington, the leads of “The Dowager and the Wicked Duke”?

A middle aged man and middle aged woman, both wearing Regency-era, stand next to each other. The man is tall, thin, and gray haired. He wears a top hat, a blue coat, and beige pants. The woman is shorter, plump, and has long blond curls. She wears a bonnet and a long-sleeved, light blue gown, trimmed with darker blue. The background of the graphic is light green.
Art by Viva

I’ve written many lovely couples who don’t yet have their own character art, but I singled out Lawrence and Jane in part because I rarely see character art with middle-aged couples. Romance isn’t just for young people. Characters who find love in their forties and fifties deserve to be celebrated, too!

Vvivaa did an excellent job of bringing these mature lovers to life. If you like this style, you should also check out her shop. She sells art prints, stickers, and other bookish merch.I particularly like her Pride and Prejudice art!

Spring Spectacular Promotion

Dragonblade Publishing is hosting their annual spring-themed promotion. There are 50 free historical romances available for a limited time.

Graphic with blooming trees in the background. Heading reads "Spring Spectacular" and a sidebar with big letters says "50 FREE BOOKS." In the foreground are covers of two historical romances.

I don’t have a book in this promotion, but there are many great authors included, so check it out! The promotion ends May 26.

Coming Soon: Besotted Books

In case you haven’t heard, author Andie James recently announced an upcoming Kickstarter for a new historical romance publisher, Besotted Books. If you love historical romance, this is something to celebrate!

As publishers shift away from historical romance, many established authors are moving to an indie or hybrid publishing career. Small presses offer an alteranative for writers who don’t want to self publish. I’m really excited about Andie’s new venture, and you’ll probably hear more about it in the near future.

That’s all for now, Rollins Readers. Happy reading!
