Cue up an exciting J-Rock song.

You know those anime openings where like the main characters are running in a grassy field and end up all standing together on a hill or something with a stiff but not overwhelming breeze and bright sunshine? We got something like that coming up, except it's a picnic. Tournament arcs need not apply.

Latest from AnimeChicago

• Our yearly picnic at Horner Park returns on Saturday, September 10th. Come get some last summer rays and talk some anime. Hopefully we avoid a microburst this year!

• Anime fans got a two-fer of conventions with Anime Magic and C2E2 happening on the same weekend, including a fun At-Con meetup during Anime Magic! Of course, lots of swag was purchased and tons of costumes worn.

• AnimeChicago's Art Circle took up the task of creating header images to promote the group both on Meetup and Discord. No more blank images and much more fitting for an art group.

• Speaking of creating, know an anime-inspired creator in the Chicago area? Tell us about them! We'd love to hear all about them for an upcoming initiative.

Upcoming Events

• Join 8 attendees for our next Anime Circle this Sunday as we chat about Ya Boy Kongming!, a show that mixes the Three Kingdoms Period and pop music. You read that right.

• The anime hasn't started yet, and Chainsaw Man is already a global hit. Get ready for the show by discussing the manga on Sunday, September 11th.

Beyond AnimeChicago

• The Sony-owned portion of the anime landscape got that much bigger with the purchase of well-loved anime merchant Right Stuf.

• Who doesn't want more Sk8 the Infinity? Fans can rejoice as a second season and an OVA were just announced.

• Curious about the lengths fans will go to recover once-thought lost anime? Check out this fantastic video about anime restoration!
