I hope this newsletter finds you well.

Do you love mushrooms as much as I love mushrooms? I guess that’s a difficult question to answer unless you know how much I love mushrooms.

The answer is: I love mushrooms quite a lot. I love the edible ones because they are delicious. I love the inedible ones because many of them are cute. Mushrooms are really cool and I encourage you to read about them if you don’t already know much about them.

I took that photo on Friday evening at a little park in my sweet little village. There were so many of these little mushrooms near where I was sitting. Because I’m no forager, and because I think these aren’t a variety for humans to safely eat, I did not eat them. I just appreciated them.

When mushrooms come up out of the ground, we are only seeing the fruiting body of a much larger organism living underground. Mushrooms can get HUGE!

How huge? How about 3.7 square miles?

Speaking of Oregon and other places waaaay west of here, in a few weeks I’m going on holiday there. I’ll be gone for 24 days.
