Wreck Your Own Adventure Newsletter 6-21-26: Rainbow Season
Greetings, Wrecking Crew,
I hope this newsletter finds you well.
Happy Pride Month!
Happy Summer Solstice (unless you’re reading this below the Equator, in which case, Happy Winter Solstice)!
Just in time for all of that, today Rainbow Season officially began here at the Bellows Falls Yacht Club.
This afternoon, while I was lounging on the couch, recovering from an EPIC party last night where two of my dear friends happened to get married, I looked outside and noticed it got real gloomy real fast.
OH SHIT! RAINBOW TIME! I ran upstairs and grabbed my Surveillance Phone, ran downstairs and out onto the deck, nearly tripping over a sleeping cabin boy, so I could take this photo:
As I like to tell people, my home is susceptible to rainbows. Something about our particular geography and topography causes occasional summer rain storms which come down the river in the late afternoon. They always seem to end when the sun is setting over the ridge to the west of here. The clouds part, but it’s still raining on the river. Hence, rainbows.
There have been particularly wet summers where we had a rainbow almost every day. I know. Such a burden, living here in this gorgeous place. Right now, as I write this, the hermit thrush is singing its evening song, too. Yes, I am quite lucky, in fact.
We may not have hermit thrushes singing tomorrow during my radio show. And if it’s raining, the sun will be in the wrong place to send a rainbow that early in the day.
But, I shall carry on nonetheless, so please do tune in to Wreck Your Own Adventure, my radio program which airs on WFMU’s Give the Drummer Radio every Monday from 9am-noon (ET).
Here’s the link that’ll take you right to it, whether you’re listening live or on the archives: https://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/165410
See you on the radio!
xo,
-Wendy del Formaggio
p.s. In about a month I’ll be on the road and away from the Yacht Club for three weeks. The first Monday I’m gone (7/20) I’ll be doing my show from A VERY SPECIAL SURPRISE LOCATION where I’ll also have A VERY SPECIAL SURPRISE GUEST.
The second Monday (7/27) I’ll have a fill-in but I don’t know who it is yet. Details soon.
The third Monday (8/3) the great Charlie and his wonderful show, Busy Doing Nothing, is filling in for me. YAY!
