Wreck Your Own Adventure Newsletter 5-3-26: 5/4 Day! The Thing!
Greetings, Wrecking Crew,
I hope this newsletter finds you well.
Some of you science fiction movie nerds are under the assumption that tomorrow is Star Wars Day.
Well.
Some of us music nerds know tomorrow is really Quintuple Meter Day.
I’ll be celebrating with a set of songs in the 5/4 time signature. Make sure you’re wearing your dancing shoes and tie your laces tight so you don’t trip over them.
Tomorrow I’m also celebrating the upcoming Thing in the Spring music festival.
My favorite music festival, in fact. It happens in Keene, NH, at NOVA Arts on Emerald Street. This year it’s Friday, May 15 through Sunday the 17th and I plan to be there the entire time.
You can still get tickets — or you can just pay at the door. Go here to learn more: https://www.novaarts.org/thething
How am I celebrating The Thing on the radio? By playing a set of music from artists who have performed there. Regular listeners to my radio show will recognize most of the music, because I play A LOT of music from The Thing.
It’s a great festival and every year I discover a buncha new music there. NOVA’s director, Eric Gagne, does a hell of a job programming The Thing and I can’t recommend it enough.
Meanwhile, RADIO!
Tune in tomorrow to Wreck Your Own Adventure, my radio program which airs on WFMU’s Give the Drummer Radio every Monday from 9am-noon (ET).
Here’s the link that’ll take you right to it, whether you’re listening live or on the archives: https://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/163872
IMPORTANT INFORMATION! Next Monday, May 11, I will not be on the radio. David, aka dB’s Analogue Lounge, will be filling in for me, so please tune in. There will be NO newsletter next week, but I’ll be back the following week (May 18).
See you on the radio!
xo,
-Wendy del Formaggio
