Greetings, Wrecking Crew,

I hope this newsletter finds you well.

Even if yesterday was a great day for you, I hope today is much better. The fortune from the cookie said it, so it has to be true.

I hope you weren’t too confused last week when there was no newsletter and I wasn’t on the radio.

Big thanks to dB’s Analogue Lounge for filling in for me so I could go visit my family for Mothers’ Day. I had a lovely time and I’m happy I got to spend time with Mom not only on Mothers’ Day, but on other days, too.

And I’m really happy to be back and I very much look forward to returning to radio tomorrow morning.

While I was in NJ I stopped by WFMU to help out with sending Marathon goodies, and to have dinner with a nice group of radio friends.

At the station I chatted a bit with Billy Jam, long-time host of WFMU’s “Put the Needle on the Record.” Not only was it nice to see him because he’s a sweet dude, but it was also lovely to give him an in-person welcome to Give the Drummer Radio.

YES! I have news! Starting on June 1, Billy Jam will be hosting a brand-new show on Drummer Stream, “My Life as a Mix Tape.” (He’s still doing his other show, don’t worry.) He’s occupying my original Drummer slot: Mondays, 3-6pm. This means Drummer will soon have live programming every Monday from 9am-midnight. That’s so good!

There’s more Drummer news I’m happy to share: Sundays are almost completely filled up again because Primal Ice Cream with Solo Mon has returned to the airwaves. He’s on from noon-3pm. Arb has moved her show, “The Arbitrarium,” from Fridays to Sundays, taking the 3-5pm spot. And, one of our newest shows, “Magic Records with Cal Zone!” will soon expand from his current 9-11pm slot to three hours, thus keeping us live until midnight.

AND, this is VERY cool, and I’m copying Drummer Leader Doug’s announcement: “Many of you are familiar with Steve Stein aka Steinski, the mixmaster/sound alchemist extraordinaire behind a long series of legendary deep mixes and remixes. Back in the 1990s Steve produced and hosted an hour-long program for WFMU called A Rough Mix. All of these shows aired on WFMU before the station was online—and thus, before all of our programming was archived.”
Well, thanks to some DAT recordings and much love and finagling, Drummer Stream is airing 67 episodes (!!!) of “A Rough Mix.” These shows will air on the Drummer Stream every Sunday, 5-6pm, beginning June 7.

I am so immensely honored to be part of Give the Drummer Radio. When I started, it was a source for fantastic programming. And IT KEEPS GETTING BETTER! Now we just need to convince a few of our erstwhile DJs to bring their shows back (y’all know who you are!).
