Wreck Your Own Adventure Newsletter 3-29-26: Live music! Karl Ward!
Greetings, Wrecking Crew!
I hope this newsletter finds you well.
I am VERY excited about tomorrow’s show.
Official Bellows Falls Yacht Club bandleader (and member of Countermoon) Karl Ward will be dropping by for a live set and a buncha kibbitzing.
Wouldn’t YOU wanna have this guy on your radio show? Look at his shirt! “Up on the hill, they think I’m okay…”
Those of you who never fail to miss an episode of The Wreck might be wondering to yourself, Gosh. I don’t remember Wendo having anyone play live music on her show before. Is this something new?
YOU ARE CORRECT, SIR/MADAM/ESTEEMED COLLEAGUE!
Karl will be the first person to ever play live music on my radio show.
He’s not the first person to play live music at the Yacht Club. That honor goes to me and my clarinet.
The difference tomorrow, other than that we’ll be on the radio, is that Karl is good at it.
(Playing the clarinet? I dunno. I’ll ask him.)
Of course I chose Karl to be the first musician to play on my radio show.
I’ll let Karl explain why, in some words I stole borrowed from his own email newsletter:
“As some of you know, I've written 23 theme songs (so far) for Wendy's show. It has become a thing. I'll be playing one of the theme songs live--but which one? Hint: it's one of the songs that mentions Boz Scaggs. Yes, I wrote more than one song that mentions Boz Scaggs.”
Karl Ward.
Boz Scaggs.
Live music.
Nice kibbitzing. (Or, “witty repartee” for all my goyische listeners.)
You can get it all tomorrow on Wreck Your Own Adventure, my radio show which airs on WFMU’s Give the Drummer Radio every Monday from 9am-noon (ET).
Here’s the link that’ll take you right to it, whether you’re listening live or on the archives: https://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/162682
See you on the radio!
xo,
-Wendy del Formaggio
