Wreck Your Own Adventure Newsletter 2-22-26: So Many Announcements

Greetings, Wrecking Crew!

I hope this newsletter finds you well, warm, and safe.

Before we get into all the announcements, I want to let you know it’s still snowing in Vermont. Here’s a photo from just after 7am on Saturday…

…And it’s supposed to snow again tonight and tomorrow!

I hope y’all were able to tune in last week when I had Wellerd, the author of the comic strip, “Journey Agent,” on The Wreck. It was a really fun chat. If you missed it, here’s the link to the show’s archive: https://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/161306

Tomorrow will be a regular show, so to speak.

But the following week, March 2, is when things get innnnnteresting.

“My stars! Wherever did you get that awful hair-do?”

It’s almost time for the WFMU annual fundraising marathon, where we do really great radio and we ask you for money. You do know WFMU is commercial-free and listener-sponsored, right? Yes, of course you knew that!

March 2 is my first marathon show for this season. The lovely Charlie Lewis, host of Busy Doing Nothing, will be my co-host and I’m very excited.

I’m not sure who will be my co-host for March 9. Stay tuned!

Here’s a bit of info you might like to know: one of the grand prizes I’m offering this year to people who pledge to my show is a package of art MADE BY ME. It includes the hand-drawn original for my 2024 marathon premium, “Songs in the Key of Cheese.” It looks like this:

I really hope you know which album cover this is parodying.

Except the one you’ll be getting, if you win, also shows the sidebar where I tested colors with my pencils. It’s also much larger than a CD cover. It’s almost the size of an LP cover.

My Grand Prize Art Pack also includes:

  • Two small hand-made books. Both are blank; one has lined pages and the other is unlined.

  • Two of my “A Better World is Possible” envelopes.

  • All eight of my Wreck promo postcards

  • One copy of Volume One of the Wreck program guide zine (and it’s the last one in existence!)

  • Three greeting cards with homemade envelopes; each card is from a different series I’ve made, including one of the last of “Oblique Strategies,” a Surrealist poetry cut-up, and my newest series, “Psychic Communications.”

Every piece of art is original, made by me. The postcards and the zine are color copies, but everything else is the only one of its kind.

The ONLY way you can get this Art Pack is to pledge $75 or more to my show during my show. So, please consider that if you’re planning to pledge ahead of time.

Looking further ahead, on March 30 I will not only welcome the first musician to play a live set on my radio show, but the musician will be the Official Bellows Falls Yacht Club Bandleader, Karl Ward of Countermoon! You already know Karl’s music because every week I open my show with one of the 23 theme songs (and counting!) that Karl has written and recorded for me. He’s coming here with his guitar and I am so excited!

Tomorrow will just be lil’ ol’ me, but I hope you’ll tune in anyway.

That show is Wreck Your Own Adventure on WFMU’s Give the Drummer Radio
I’m on from 9am-noon.

See you on the radio!
