Highlight Sample #1 - Kjeragbolten
Hi,
We thought we’d start this mailout with some of our favourite slides of the last few years before term starts, so that we can:
Test this mailing list and its functions - did you know you can comment on the posts on Buttondown - instant feedback and community discussion on how to best use TGT.
Start build a searchable archive on Buttondown that may attract some new users who can see what we’re about before term starts.
You guys can see how the slide will arrive in your inboxes*.
Kjeragbolten. Back in 2023 I asked Chris if I could join him and change his twitter TGT project into a daily slide I could show my tutor group. We were a few weeks into the new project when this slide caused an explosion of discussion and opposing views in my tutor group. They were divided into those who would stand on the Kjeragbolten and those that would not.
But interestingly, it also divided into those who would happily take part in the 8-hour return hike to the bolt and those who wouldn’t - and they were not the same groups of students who would and wouldn’t stand on it!
From that day onwards my group felt pretty comfortable discussing with each other the low-stakes questions on TGT slides. It felt like the brakes were off and they were comfortable sharing their opinions with me and each other.

* Buttondown has a 1MB size limit for attachments, so we’ll send it as a PDF. If you want to download the slide as ppt for editing as you wish there will also be a link to Google Slides like this where you can download it.
