It's been an exciting few weeks for the Spokane People's Calendar, and we're looking forward to building on that momentum with the People's Town Hall on July 12.

People's Town Hall - Sunday, July 12

Our next major event is the People's Town Hall at Spokane Central Library.

Hosted by Spokane People's Calendar in partnership with Spokane Public Library, KYRS Community Radio, and other local organizations, the People's Town Hall is a nonpartisan community candidate forum bringing together 14 congressional and state legislative candidates, community organizations, local media, and residents to discuss the issues affecting our region ahead of the election.

One of the most important parts of this event is that the questions come directly from our community.

Public question submissions are now open, and we'd love to hear what you'd like candidates to address. Questions may be submitted for:

• All candidates
• Congressional candidates
• Legislative candidates
• In some cases, specific candidates

Spo-Candidate Meet & Bingo

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated prizes, tabled, and helped make the Spo-Candidate Meet & Bingo such a success.

The response from both attendees and candidates was overwhelmingly positive. We heard over and over that the format created genuine conversations and helped voters connect with candidates in a way that's rarely possible at traditional forums.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the local businesses, artists, organizations, and community members who donated raffle prizes. Their generosity helped make the event even more engaging while showcasing some of the incredible people and businesses that make Spokane such a vibrant community.

The success of the Meet & Bingo has us even more excited for the People's Town Hall, where we'll continue creating opportunities for meaningful conversations between candidates and the community.

Ranked Choice Voting Mock Primary

FairVote Washington - Spokane hosted a Ranked Choice Voting mock primary after attendees had the opportunity to meet the congressional candidates and learn about the race.

Congratulations to Kevin Fagan, who received the strongest first-choice support in our mock primary. Because he earned more first-choice support than was needed to advance, some of those ballots were then counted toward voters' next choices to help determine the remainder of the Top 5, demonstrating one of the unique features of Ranked Choice Voting.

No July Monthly Meeting

We will not be holding our regular Spokane People's Calendar monthly meeting on Saturday, July 4.

Instead, we'll be focusing our efforts on preparing for the People's Town Hall, and we hope to see many of you there on July 12.

Help Keep the Calendar Growing

Spokane People's Calendar doesn't currently collect membership dues or organizational funding. Everything we do is powered by volunteers and community support.

Financial contributions help us continue expanding our outreach and organizing efforts by covering expenses such as:

• Printing flyers, stickers, and outreach materials
• Event tabling fees
• Shirts and promotional materials
• Community events and educational activities
• Website and organizing expenses

We're also exploring long-term options for accepting donations directly through Spokane People's Calendar as we continue to grow.
