Pink Hour
Central India ยท landscape
The sky turns to rose and copper as the sun melts behind the treeline. The lake holds the last light of the day like a mirror, perfectly still.
There's a window of about four minutes between golden hour and dusk when the sky over central India turns this particular shade of rose. The locals call it the 'colour of sleep' โ the tint the world takes on just before it closes its eyes. I've chased this colour across half a dozen lakes and riverbanks, and it never photographs the same way twice.
This evening the water was absolutely motionless. Not a ripple, not a bird landing, nothing. The treeline became a perfect silhouette, and the sun hung there like a pale coin before dropping away entirely. I took three shots. This was the second one. The third was already too dark.
