Half Moon Rising

Half Moon Rising

India ยท landscape

A half moon hangs between dark clouds in the deep blue of early night. Minimalist, quiet, meditative โ€” the kind of image that slows your breathing.

I almost didn't take this photograph. I was packing up after a full day of shooting, and the moon was just... there. Half-lit, suspended between two banks of cloud in that deep indigo that comes twenty minutes after sunset. The kind of scene you see a thousand times and forget to photograph because it seems too simple.

But simplicity is its own discipline. There's nothing in this frame except the moon, the clouds, and the darkness. No foreground, no context, no location. It could be anywhere. And maybe that's the point โ€” the moon belongs to everyone, and this particular half-moon, on this particular evening, looked like it was the only light left in the world. I've learned to trust the moments that feel too quiet to matter. They usually matter the most.
