Want more hang time?
The key to defying gravity πͺ
Hey ballet friend,
Do you know where your hips are when you jump? If not, itβs time to dial up your brain-body connection! π§ πͺ
Finding the sweet spot sets up your best posture, and strengthens your brain's connection with your glutes β so you can catch some serious hang time in your allegro steps.
Officially, we call that ballon π and itβs one of the principles of ballet.
It's also a big theme in my lesson notes as I'm gearing up for for this summerβs beginner ballet. This is SUCH an important skill, and one I love teaching.
Once you've got it down, using the power of your hips:
softens your landings so your feet and ankles don't take a beating
gives you powerful liftoff so jumping feels a little like flying π
trains your muscle memory for βsbalzoβ (springing relevΓ©s) β the technique of almost jumping onto pointe with a light, buoyant energy
Wanna join the fun? You have TWO class pack options coming up β 5 weeks starting this Saturday, or 4 weeks for the month of June. After that it's plain and simple month passes for the rest of the summer π
