This weekend: four fun sessions—for kids and grownups alike

Hi everyone,

Are you also enjoying this touch of heat? We spent a lot of the long weekend outside with our kids—and even made our first visit to our favourite ice cream factory outside the city. (Reply for the rec! It’s not Kawartha Dairy.)

We’ll definitely be in the city this weekend, with each of us leading a Hot Pizza session, and even more for you to consider. Read on for details.

Wishing I was writing from the porch,
Brian

This weekend: Stuffie apparel, letter-writing, painting, printmaking

Kids and grownups making art side-by-side

This Saturday and Sunday we’ve got fun sessions for kids to get creative, adults to do something fulfilling, and parents and kids to explore art-making side-by-side.

Saturday, 2 p.m., College Street: join Paul Dotey and Nicole Fox for a family-friendly introduction to printmaking techniques. Bring home a stack of beautiful prints—and the skills and confidence to keep creating. Register →

Saturday, 2 p.m., Osler Street: join HP founder Julia Dault for a fun, low-pressure chance to explore painting alongside your kid. Play with tempera, acrylic, and watercolour on a mix of papers and surfaces. Register →

Saturday, 7:30 p.m., College Street: join me, Brian, for the Hot Pizza Correspondence Club, where we share stationery and stories while sending notes, cards, and letters to friends and loved ones. The people you care about deserve something other than coupons in their mailboxes! Register →

Sunday, 10 a.m., College Street: Stuffies and sewing! Join Madelaine Bell, who will work with you and your little one to create one-of-a-kind high-fashion outfits for their favorite friend! Learn basic sewing skills in a fun, all-ages creative environment. Register →

On the horizon—at HP and in the community

A old-timey black-and-white print of people drawing from life at easels

Saturday, May 30, 7:30 p.m.: the return of Speed Portraiture, one of our most popular sessions! Practice your drawing skills while meeting cool people and amassing a unique collection of portraits of you! Every skill level welcome. Register →

Sunday, May 31, 10 a.m.: For two years we’ve run popular life-drawing classes for adults. So we’re bringing our favorite model in for an all-ages family-friendly Clothed Life Drawing session so everyone can experience the joy of drawing, practicing proportion, and capturing movement without getting stuck on “perfect.” Register →

But you don’t have to come to HP to enjoy a quick hit of creativity. In the coming weeks, find us at the Brockton Community Yard Sale, the Carleton Village Fun Fair, AMG Day at Alexander Muir Gladstone Ave. School, and (deep breath) the Do West Fest on Dundas in the heart of Little Portugal. Come visit us, or tell your friends about us!
