Welcome to Escondido Indivisible’s weekly action plan for June 4, 2018! The Statewide Primary Election is this Tuesday, June 5, 2018. On Election Day, mail-in ballots can be dropped off at the Escondido Public Library or your precinct polling place which can be found at sdvote.org. For those voting at the polls, polls open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. If you are (still) in line at 8:00 pm, you should still be allowed to vote. Irregularities can be reported at Secretary of State's confidential toll-free Voter Hotlines including at (800)-345-8683 (English), (800)-232-8682 (español), (800)-339-2957 (Tagalog) & (800)-339-8163 (Việt ngữ). - Contact Rep. Hunter and ask him to support H.R.5950 which “strengthens protections for immigrant families while they are in ICE custody”. See Trump’s New, Cruel Immigration Policy and Stop DHS from Separating Families at the US Border.
Thursday
- Read-up on Hurricane Maria: 4,645 Died In Puerto Rico From Storm In 2017, Study Says and An Impromptu Memorial To Demand That Puerto Rico's Hurricane Dead Be Counted.
- Contact Rep. Hunter and ask him to support H.R.4782 which “provide[s] additional disaster recovery assistance for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands”.
Friday
- Read-up on As Graduates In Santa Fe And Parkland Look Ahead, A Look Back On Activism This Year.
- Contact State Senator Anderson and ask him to support AB-3 which “raises age to 21 for buying a gun and prohibits anyone from buying more than one gun per month”. The bill will be up for a hearing at Senate Public Safety Committee (of which Senator Anderson is vice chair) on June 12, 2018.
