Health Plan Is Really a Rollback of Medicaid and The Senate health-care bill's subsidy cuts hurt low-income, older Americans.

Contact Senator Feinstein & Harris and ask them to oppose the Better Care Reconciliation Act, the Senate’s version of Trumpcare. Ask them to withhold consent until there are public hearings about the bill and to oppose the bill through procedural means. Note CBO aims to release estimate for Senate health care plan early this week and then Senator McConnell will quickly schedule a vote (Thursday or Friday) and limit debate to 20 hrs. Submit an amendment for the Better Care Reconciliation Act at Our Amendments (and forward us a copy at escondidoindivisible50@gmail.com if you would like it to be delivered to Senator Feinstein & Harris’ district offices).

Contact Rep. Hunter and ask him to oppose the Better Care Reconciliation Act, the Senate’s version of Trumpcare. Ask him to oppose any bills that circumvent established congressional procedures (e.g. note waiting for CBO score, changing majority vote requirement, etc.) and that cut Medicaid, allow states to cut essential benefits, remove protection for pre-exisiting conditions and will cause people to not afford health insurance, etc.. Note that if the bill passes the Senate, it will go to the House for a vote. See Nine Ways to Stop Trumpcare from a Blue State (or a Red One!).

Contact Assemblymember Waldron & Senator Anderson and let them know that you’re disappointed to hear that SB-562 (Californians For A Healthy California Act), which “create [a] Healthy California program to provide comprehensive universal single-payer health care coverage and a health care cost control system for the benefit of all residents of the state, was shelved. Tell them why universal healthcare matters to you. See California Assembly Leader Shelves Single-Payer Health Plan & Nine Ways to Stop Trumpcare from a Blue State (or a Red One!).

Contact Governor Brown and tell him how ACA & Medicaid have benefited California. Tell him that there has been a shift in public support for universal healthcare and that you support California exploring more about establishing a universal healthcare system. Contact Mayor Abed & the Escondido City Council and let you them know that you want public discussions about any privatization of the Escondido Library. According to the City Council Action Plan, the city is “evaluating contracting for Library services to determine whether it would result in cost savings and improved service”.
