- Wednesday, January 23, 2019, 4:30 PM: Escondido City Council Meeting at City Hall Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. **Agenda includes item #8 to resolution to oppose offshore drilling, item #10 on city action plan, and item #11 on city budget**
Federal Government Shutdown
- Read-up on Trump shutdown announcement: Trump’s offering an immigration deal — here’s why Democrats aren’t interested.
- Contact Rep. Hunter and ask him to accept a bipartisan deal to reopen the government. Rep. Hunter has continued to vote no on all proposed bipartisan resolutions to fund the government, including last week’s H.J.Res.27 and H.R.268. Meanwhile in the Senate, Majority Leader McConnell continued to refuse to hold a vote on any House-passed bipartisan legislation to fund the government. - Contact Senators Feinstein and Harris and thank you for “standing strong against [President] Trump’s demands for wall funding”. Tell them you continue to support their efforts to reopen the government and push for a clean funding bill.

Climate Action

- Contact the Escondido City Council and thank them for voting to move the planned water treatment facility to another location that is designated for industrial use instead of residential area. Ask them to vote yes on opposing offshore drilling. Note: Mayor McNamara, Deputy Mayor Martinez (D1), Councilmember Diaz (D3) voted for the water treatment facility relocation while Councilmembers Masson (D2) and Morasco (D4) voted no.
