Welcome to Escondido Indivisible’s weekly action plan for January 22, 2018! It’s okay if you can’t do everything on the plan. Pick 1 action every day or 3-5 actions for the week and commit yourself to doing them. Whatever your commitment, as President Obama said in his farewell speech: Believe in your ability to bring change. Show up, dive in, stay at it.

- Monday, January 22, 2018, 6:00 PM–8:00 PM: Escondido Indivisible Group Meeting with ECOC & TWW North County Inland at Chalice Unitarian Universalist Congregation Church, 2324 Miller Avenue, Escondido, CA 92029. Come Meet Vanessa Valenzuela, Escondido City Council Candidate, District 2 and learn about our plans for 2018!
- Wednesday, January 24, 2017, 4:30 PM: Escondido City Council Meeting at City Hall Council Chambers, 201 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92025. ***On the agenda (item 14) includes an update on the City Council Action Plan where it discussed outsourcing city (library) operations”.***
- Saturday, January 27, 2018, 9:00 AM–1:00 PM: Super Saturday Monthly Canvass, a joint effort between the Escondido Democratic Club and Escondido Indivisible. We will be walking a priority precinct in Eastern Escondido to gather signatures on our Library petition and registering voters. We will go in teams. It will be fun!!! - Attend Escondido Indivisible Group Meeting with ECOC & TWW North County Inland at Chalice Unitarian Universalist Congregation Church, 2324 Miller Avenue, Escondido, CA 92029 at 6:00 PM–8:00 PM.
- Read-up on The Trump Shutdown: What’s at Stake for Dreamers, TPS Holders and Our Country, Inside the Government Shutdown: What You Need to Know and Shutdown, Day 3: Senate Plans Midday Vote Amid Active Negotiations.
- Contact Senator Feinstein & Harris and thank them for standing with Dreamers. Reiterate your support for a clean DREAM Act & for funding for CHIP and disaster relief. See Dream Hero Call Script & Urge Congress to End the Shutdown, Fund CHIP, Pass DACA.
Tuesday
- Read-up on The Weekly List: Week 62, Thousands queue up for Women's March in San Marcos and At San Diego Women's March: 'Waited 80 Years for This Cultural Change' and a Pussy Hat.
- Contact Rep. Hunter and ask him to support a clean DREAM Act & to provide funding for CHIP and disaster relief. See Urge Congress to End the Shutdown, Fund CHIP, Pass DACA.
Wednesday
- Sign and share Save Our (Escondido) Library Petition.
- Read-up on As company takes over Escondido library, opponents remain undeterred.
- Write a letter to the editor about the city’s failure to do due diligence in researching LS&S outside their own marketing materials, in engaging the public about outsourcing library services, and in serving the public’s interests for a transparent & public-control library.
Thursday
- Contact County Board of Supervisor Gaspar and ask her to introduce Senator Feinstein’s resolution “opposing Trump’s plan for new offshore drilling development and new oil and gas leases off the California coast.” See California vs. the feds over offshore drilling.
- Contact State Assemblymember Waldron and ask her to vote yes on AB-1775 which “prohibit development of new oil pipelines and other infrastructure in coastal waters controlled by the CA State Lands Commission”.
- Contact State Senator Anderson and ask him to vote yes on SB-834 which “prohibit development of new oil pipelines and other infrastructure in coastal waters controlled by the CA State Lands Commission”.
Friday
- Read-up on As Hunter digs in, Republicans wring hands, A Problem for Republicans Fighting to Keep California House Seats: Trump, New billboard blasts Rep. Duncan Hunter, This is what democracy looks like' and San Diego Politicians Call on Congress to Forfeit Pay During Shutdown.
- Contact Rep. Hunter and ask him when he plans to hold a town hall with his constituents. He had not hold a town hall for almost a year.
- Write a letter to the editor about ongoing investigation into Rep. Hunter’s campaign funding misuse & his re-election bid.
Saturday & Sunday
- Attend Super Saturday Monthly Canvass. Sign up at Super Saturday Monthly Canvass.
- Read-up on This Country's Democracy Has Fallen Apart — And It Played Out To Millions On Facebook.
- Read-up on Fearing a rebuff in court, lead paint companies are trying to stick taxpayers with their cleanup bill. Please do not sign the petition for the so-called Healthy Homes and Schools Bond Act Trust Fund Program.
