EscInd: Weekly Action Plan for April 17, 2017
Welcome to Escondido Indivisible’s weekly action plan for April 17, 2017! Escondido Indivisible is a grassroots group dedicated to affecting changes in our local community. Our website is at EscondidoIndivisible.com, and our sister group is at Escondido Indivisible on Facebook. Send us links and comments at EscondidoIndivisible50@gmail.com and @EscInd50 on Twitter. If you were forwarded this letter, you can subscribe here, and check the archive here.
It’s okay if you can’t do everything on the plan. Pick 1 action every day or 3-5 actions for the week and commit yourself to doing them. Whatever your commitment, as President Obama said in his farewell speech: Believe in your ability to bring change. Show up, dive in, stay at it.

Follow-up with Senator Anderson and explain why you’re in favor of SB-149 which requires presidential candidates to release their last 5 tax returns to be listed on CA election ballot. Senate Elections and Constitutional Amendments Committee, of which Senator Anderson is the vice chair, is set to hear the bill tomorrow, Tuesday, April 18. Talking points: During the campaign, President Trump promises to release his tax returns and he has yet to fulfill his promise. We, the public, deserve transparency and honesty from our president and future president candidates.

The petitions, include those that was collected at the NC & SD Tax March, will be presented to Rep. Hunter’s district staff tomorrow, Tuesday, April 18. There are ~350 combined signatures so far.
-
Follow-up with Rep. Hunter and ask when will he be available to his constituents in an in-person town hall during this district period. Script: “Hi, I’m a constituents from [City, Zip Code]. It’s April recess, but I haven’t heard any news about Rep. Hunter holding a town hall. Is he not working and meeting with us, his constituents, during the April recess? Is he keeping his promise to us, his constituents, about holding town halls?”

Be Inspired by Albert Einstein: “A human being is part of the whole called by us “the universe,” a part of the whole limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings, as something separate from the rest—a kind of optical illusion of our consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our tasks must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of understanding and compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of Nature in its beauty.” — Albert Einstein
