In my last newsletter, I encouraged you to donate financially to local hunger support organizations or healthcare mutual aid funds. Now, on Giving Tuesday, I'd like to extend this offer to include ANY local community organization or charity that you donated to, until 11:59pm Eastern this Saturday, December 6th.

How it works: E-mail me your donation receipt from one or more of the qualifying causes (see below) of $25 or more within the timeframe above with the subject line "November Take a Stand, Make a Plan donation" (with your private financial account details edited out but including the date, name of the organization or fund, and your name). I will then manually e-mail the digital coupon code to you within 1-2 business days. You can also text me the redacted receipt at (757) 847-5190 and I will text you back your digital gift code within 1-2 business days.
Qualifying organizations and funds:
Any organization, fund, or charity listed in the "Take a Stand, Make a Plan" program guidelines, which focus on supporting marginalized people whose lives are under threat from systemized bigotry qualifies for this, but I would love to see donations to local organizations in your community and neighborhood. These grassroots initiatives are often the most involved in uplifting their neighbors and communities, and for this reason are often also under the most threat from punitive funding cuts based on baseless and bigoted presumptions.
That said, if you need a place to start, I would look around for local food banks and food pantries, or ways to support people struggling to afford healthcare, either through organizations like Undue Medical Debt, or tracked healthcare mutual aid funds for individuals or families.
Per the usual terms of the "Take a Stand, Make a Plan" program, Action Hour attendees will continue to be eligible for a $25 digital gift code. If you donated your time or household goods instead of money and have no receipt or other way to track this, I highly encourage you to show up to an Action Hour meeting if you can make it!
Discover Teas digital gift codes are valid for up to 1 year from the date that you receive them; you can use them yourself or gift them to a friend.

As we continue to face supply chain and issues throughout the delivery logistics pipeline, it's more important than ever to order early for your gifting needs. I am a one-person business and this is a busy time of year for all e-commerce and shipping businesses. Unfortunately, this means there is no way for me to guarantee that your package will arrive by a certain date once it is in the hands of the delivery service.
Common holiday ordering concerns:
Do you offer rush shipping?
No. I have on rare occasions sent packages through priority and even next-day shipping before, only to have them not arrive in the promised time frame. These problems compound exponentially during the December holiday season as all workers in postal and shipping and fulfillment industries are even more overwhelmed, and I won't offer a service both you and I have to pay extra for if I can't guarantee the service will be provided as promised.
What if I will be traveling during the order processing/delivery window?
While I cannot guarantee any delivery times once your package is shipped, if you tell me which addresses you can receive packages at on which dates via e-mail, in the Customer Notes section after payment at checkout, or by texting me at (757) 847-5190 as soon as you make your order, I will do my best to anticipate which address will be best to ship to when I am done processing your order.
If you aren't able to order your tea by 11:59pm Eastern on Saturday, December 6th, or if you add someone new to your gifting list after that date, you can always order a digital gift code that is instantly delivered to your recipient upon purchase!
Small business gift guide: Whether shipping online or shopping in-person, in the 757 or nationwide, small business is the way to go!
The list of online stores below is arranged in alphabetical order and represents a variety of small businesses at different stages in their business journey. Some have a large inventory, and others have a narrower focus. Small online businesses that are also headquartered in the 757 or the 804 are marked by an asterisk* after their name.
There were other businesses I wanted to add; unfortunately, far too many of them are no longer actively in business. Please remember that, whether in your neighborhood or online, whenever you shop small, you are making a difference. Leave a kind word or a review for the small businesses you love and recommend them to others when you can to keep the love growing. Thank you! ♥

What's an Action Hour? Check out my blog post on the completely optional "Take a Stand, Make a Plan" incentive program to encourage protecting human rights and building stronger communities. By participating by either donating to an organization or joining an Action Hour, you can receive a $25 Discover Teas gift card code to use or to gift.
You're always welcome to join Action Hour, even if you don't have any specific plans for that time. It's a great space to brainstorm ideas, share resources, think about different groups we can reach out to, and come up with helpful scripts or schedules that can lessen the cognitive and emotional load of these tasks. It can also be an opportunity to discuss strategies for managing the deluge of dire news in a productive fashion while still staying informed and compassionate, ways to help keep each other safe, and how to identify or recover from burnout, so we can feel strengthened and less alone.
This month's Take a Stand, Make a Plan Action Hour will be on Tuesday, 12/09/25, at 8:00pm Eastern/7:00pm Central/6:00pm Mountain/5:00pm Pacific. I know everyone's schedule is different, so I intend to offer different hours on different days each month so people in different timezones or who have different schedules can also participate.
