What does it look like when you send a gift from DiscoverTeas.com?
Gift orders don't receive a hard copy of the order invoice (although a digital copy is e-mailed to the person who made the purchase, as usual). Instead, I write a quick message on a small blank 3"x5" card to include with the order for your recipient, mentioning that the package is a gift purchased by you. In addition to that, if you requested a short message in the Customer Note at checkout, I handwrite it on the other side of the notecard and indicate that it is there for them to read.
Processing times are updated as needed on the website slideshow and our order shipping & fulfillment page and may change without notice depending on order volume. I do not have any control over shipping times and cannot guarantee delivery by a certain date, the best I can do is encourage you to shop early for any gifting needs to give the maximum chance that your tea will get to you on time.

As we continue to face supply chain and issues throughout the delivery logistics pipeline, it's more important than ever to order early for your gifting needs. I am a one-person business and this is a busy time of year for all e-commerce and shipping businesses. Unfortunately, this means there is no way for me to guarantee that your package will arrive by a certain date once it is in the hands of the delivery service.
Common holiday ordering concerns:
Do you offer rush shipping?
No. I have on rare occasions sent packages through priority and even next-day shipping before, only to have them not arrive in the promised time frame. These problems compound exponentially during the December holiday season as all workers in postal and shipping and fulfillment industries are even more overwhelmed, and I won't offer a service both you and I have to pay extra for if I can't guarantee the service will be provided as promised.
What if I will be traveling during the order processing/delivery window?
While I cannot guarantee any delivery times once your package is shipped, if you tell me which addresses you can receive packages at on which dates via e-mail, in the Customer Notes section after payment at checkout, or by texting me at (757) 847-5190 as soon as you make your order, I will do my best to anticipate which address will be best to ship to when I am done processing your order.
If you aren't able to order your tea by December 6th, or if someone else is added to your gifting list after that date, you can always order a digital gift code that is instantly delivered to your recipient upon purchase!
Coupon codes and best practices for continuing to support food banks and your local communities!
In lieu of a traditional “Black Friday week” event or a normal Discover Teas donation drive, this month I’d like to encourage you to donate financially to a local hunger support organization or to healthcare mutual aid funds or organizations such as Undue Medical Debt. The recent and ongoing manufactured crisis between the essential needs of food security and healthcare shows how vulnerable our families and neighbors are, and how vital community support is.
Why financial donations? Most food banks are able to provide a lot more food to a lot more people when we as individuals donate to them financially rather than with food items that we purchase, because they can buy in wholesale amounts; some may even receive special discounts due to their nonprofit status. That's why the general recommendation is to donate money to food banks when possible instead of food or other items that we buy ourselves, since our dollars can do more good that way. Money also goes further on the hyperlocal level when we give directly to people in need around us, since sharing food or making meals may not always be feasible due to food allergies and sensitivities.
Any donation of $25 or more from November 1st through December 2nd (Giving Tuesday) to a qualifying organization can allow you to redeem a digital DiscoverTeas.com coupon code for you to use or share with someone in need of a pick-me-up (one code per donor).
What are qualifying organizations or funds for this?
This initiative focuses on food banks, food pantries, other hunger support organizations, and also support of people struggling to afford healthcare, either through organizations like Undue Medical Debt, or tracked healthcare mutual aid funds for individuals or families.
Per the usual terms of the "Take a Stand, Make a Plan" program, donations over $100 to organizations supporting marginalized people under threat from systemized bigotry and Action Hour attendees will continue to be eligible for a $25 digital gift code.
Many smaller food pantries may not have the funding or backing support of national organizations, so helping small local food banks or food pantries in your area can really make a big difference!
How it works: E-mail me proof of your donation of $25 or more to one of the qualifying causes above that you made from November 1st through December 2nd with the subject line "November Take a Stand, Make a Plan donation" (with your private financial account details edited out but including the date, name of the organization/fund, and your name). I will then manually e-mail the digital coupon code to you within 1-2 business days. You can also text me the information at (757) 847-5190 and I will text you back the digital coupon code within 1-2 business days.

What's an Action Hour? Check out my blog post on the completely optional "Take a Stand, Make a Plan" incentive program to encourage protecting human rights and building stronger communities. By participating by either donating to an organization or joining an Action Hour, you can receive a $25 Discover Teas gift card code to use or to gift.
You're always welcome to join Action Hour, even if you don't have any specific plans for that time. It's a great space to brainstorm ideas, share resources, think about different groups we can reach out to, and come up with helpful scripts or schedules that can lessen the cognitive and emotional load of these tasks. It can also be an opportunity to discuss strategies for managing the deluge of dire news in a productive fashion while still staying informed and compassionate, ways to help keep each other safe, and how to identify or recover from burnout, so we can feel strengthened and less alone.
This month's Take a Stand, Make a Plan Action Hour will be on Thursday, 11/20/25, at 5:30pm Eastern. I know everyone's schedule is different, so I intend to offer different hours on different days each month so people in different timezones or who have different schedules can also participate.
These meetings use Jitsi Meet, a video conferencing platform that is free to use, works on desktop and mobile browsers without the need for an app (although one is available), does not require attendees to log in, and does not collect or sell your data. You do not need to use your full name, camera, or microphone in these meetings if you do not wish to.
