New Music From Zach Barocas
Greetings from Brooklyn, NY --
I wanted to send out a quick email to let you know that New Freedom Sound released a new piece on Bandcamp. It's another in my series of Freedoms, the ninth to be completed, the second to have started.
The piece's subtitle, "Every god needs a witness," comes from the late poet Edmund Jabès, whose work I first discovered many years ago and which has been of renewed and increasing interest to me the last few months.
Performers for this piece were me on percussion and vocals; Mark Cisneros on baritone saxophone, tenor saxophone, stritch, flute, and piccolo (his horn and flute arrangements are central to the piece); Amy Domingues on viol da gamba and vocals; J. Robbins on electric piano and piano; Gordon Withers on cello; and Lenny Young on oboe.
For the moment, it's only available on Bandcamp, though it should be available on streaming platforms in the coming weeks.
However and whenever you find your way to it, I hope you enjoy it as I hope this finds you safe and well.
Sincerely,
As ever,
Z.
