Postcard 045 - Inward
Fall has arrived in the Pacific Northwest. As much as I appreciated our sun-soaked summer, I'm embracing the cold.
Somehow I'm waking up earlier in recent days than I did for most of the summer, watching the darkness fade away over my first (maybe second?) cup of coffee.
This past weekend, I was up in Whidbey Island to celebrate two friends getting married, and — as someone who has spent near zero time on the island — took the opportunity to meander around its coastline with my camera.
The majority of the drive looked like this (above) outside my window, which provided a sense of calm and resilience in a time where I'm feeling the frenetic energy of growth and change.
I've always loved this season in the Northwest. When I was younger, it meant that snowboarding and hockey were around the corner, and as I got older it became an invitation to slow things down and turn inward (both physically and metaphorically).
I'm leaning into that feeling right now as I plan to take November and December "off" from client work and focus my time on the business (rather than in the business). I've realized that I'm perhaps too heads down, choosing between the things that I see in front of me, rather than heads up, scouting for the things that I'm excited about.
One of the projects that's been living rent free in my head lately involves physical space, so I'm planning to spend part of this time doing more of these drives, scouting.
Expect more (and more frequent 🤞🏻) photos like this, as I spend less time in front of screens and more time in front of greens.
