Postcard 022 - Airstream
I took this photo outside of Yakima, Washington on a family and friends day trip into Washington's wine country (or one of them anyway).
I'd never been to that part of Washington, save for a hockey tournament almost half my life ago, and certainly never to any of the wineries. I didn't really know what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised by what felt like "mom and pop" wineries (is that a proper term?). That isn't to say they were small necessarily, but they were run by families who cared about you and gave you a different kind of attention in the visit than the wineries I've been to in Napa.
Freehand Cellars was perhaps the most "modern" looking inside, but it was the outside views that really stunned — it's perched on a hilltop, overlooking what could have been the filming location for parts of Gladiator. While they had lovely outdoor furniture, including a hammock, it was this Airstream that really caught my attention.
It could easily be an owner's dwelling, an airbnb for visitors, or just a nice place to hang away from the main buildings. I didn't get too close because I was worried about bothering someone inside, but the image has stuck with me and I'm eager to return and learn more about the set up.
