Postcard 019 - Traffic
Today I sat in traffic for longer than I probably have in weeks. Part of it was trying to stack a few errands together and the other part was doing the errands around rush hour (whoops).
I was doing my best to embrace the weather, opting for rolled down windows over air conditioning, and as I sat staring down rows of cars perpendicular to me, I got flashbacks of Paris.
Thankfully it was only in the high 80s in Seattle today, rather than over 100, but the feeling of the heat coming up off the road in through the windows and the glazed over looks of drivers as we all sat baking in the weather brought me back to the seats of too many Parisienne cabs.
Like today’s ride, the cabs were silent. The most useful thing I can say in French is “je ne parle pas français” (I can’t speak French), which - in my American accent - was simultaneously a conversation starter and ender.
But it meant that I had lots of time to look outside and take photos. Et voilà!
