Postcard 007 - Bainbridge Island Ferry
Continuing on our ferry theme, I found this image from late March on a trip to Bainbridge Island with some friends. Looking at it, my fingers started to tingle, remembering the seconds-that-felt-like-hours as they were exposed to the icy winds on the deck.
The Bainbridge Island ferry is known as a commuter ferry in Seattle, given how many of the Island residents come into the city for work. However, I like to think of it as one of the best scenic tours in the area, giving you views of the city, Magnolia, West Seattle, the Islands, and the Olympic Mountains.
That said, the deck of the boat is often too cold (or I've become too soft) to be a place where you want to spend a lot of time sightseeing. Thankfully the interior of the boat offers comfortable seating and many of the same views, best enjoyed with friends and a warm beverage.
If you make your way to Seattle at some point and have not been out to Bainbridge, please let me know. I'll grab my camera and we'll head over for a piece of pie at Blackbird Bakery.
