Postcard 005 - New York
This is what New York always feels like to me.
No matter how long I'm in the city and no matter how much I space things out, the entire trip is a blur.
But maybe that's what's special about New York? The city invites you in and then consumes you, moving you around at New York speed.
I caught this moment on the corner of Union Square this past June, on a rainy day that was the most benevolent reprieve from a streak of 80+ degree days with seemingly comparable humidity.
Though I could also imagine this shot being a part of the timelapse of my life, stacking together all the times I was on that very corner, walking back and forth between the Facebook office in Astor Place and the W Hotel. For someone who has never lived in New York, this is perhaps the corner I am the most familiar with, close to the chaotic wonder that is Whole Foods, the source of many off-hour "healthy" meals.
This is New York as I like to think about it — a bit dark, a bit frenetic, encouraging you to look closely to make sense of the shapes around you, and always in motion.
