Celebrating Ayden

Dear Ayden,

We held a celebration for you last Saturday, August 22, in a beautiful picnic area nestled amidst the towering redwoods of Huddart Park. Over 300 people, including more than 100 children from both the local community and across the country, gathered just to celebrate you. We were completely enveloped by the enormous love everyone holds for you.

It was a magical day filled with balloons, bubbles, face painting, delicious tacos, and the sounds of children’s laughter in the woods. We shared our favorite stories about you, your FSM buddies sang you a belated happy birthday song, and we all raised a toast in your honor. We also collected close to 200 books for your Little Free Library. In a truly special moment, the Honorable Jackie Speier personally delivered a printed copy of the San Mateo County e-bike ordinance named after you, which was just passed into law this past Tuesday.

Even those who never had the chance to meet you in person felt your joy and love radiating throughout that beautiful day. Your bright energy has touched so many lives, reminding us to step into the fullest versions of ourselves and to be kinder and more loving to ourselves and each other. After all, as you so aptly put it: everyone is part of everyone!

We know you know all of this already, as you were present with us in spirit and sent us a couple of unexpected rainbows, but we wanted to say out loud again how much everyone loves you and misses your laughter, hugs & kisses.

Love, Blake, Mama, and Baba
