Escape from Tarkov's Creator Reveals First Gameplay for Fragmentary Order, an Extraction Shooter in Space

Fragmentary Order opened the first FPS Games Show on September 3 with a lore trailer and its first real gameplay. Rant Gaming and publisher Cor3 are building it, with Escape from Tarkov studio boss Nikita Buyanov attached. You control cloned soldiers dropped across a terraformed solar system in 2251, running contracts and looting for a mega-corporation called Core, then trying to extract alive. It is still early, made in Unreal Engine 5, with a full gameplay deep dive promised later in September.

Player impact: This is the Tarkov loop moved to space, so hardcore extraction squads finally see real systems instead of concept art. Early builds are gated behind an ARG puzzle on the Cor3 site. Watch the late-September deep dive before you buy the hype.

Escape from Tarkov's Studio Wants to Publish Other Studios' Games

Battlestate Games, the studio behind Escape from Tarkov, made a rare public appearance at the September 3 FPS Games Show to announce it is moving into publishing. On top of developing its decade-old extraction shooter, Battlestate says it will help bring other teams' games to market. The studio gave no list of signed projects and no timeline, so this is a statement of intent rather than a lineup.

Player impact: A Tarkov-flavored publisher could fund more hardcore, systems-heavy shooters that big publishers usually pass on. It also splits Battlestate's attention while Tarkov players still argue about wipes and cheaters. Watch which games it actually signs.

Gray Zone Warfare Teases a Big Update and Cuts Its Price 30 Percent Until September 15

Gray Zone Warfare, MADFINGER Games' hardcore military extraction shooter, took a segment at the September 3 FPS Games Show to tease its next major update and the mystery driving its map. The studio did not date the update, but it dropped the price of every edition by 30 percent on Steam from September 1 through September 15 to mark the show. The game has been in early access for over two years.

Player impact: The discount is the actionable part. If you have watched Gray Zone from the sidelines, this is the cheapest buy-in before the next content wave lands. Existing players get a reason to reinstall and see what the tease turns into.

Ready or Not's 1.5 Update Adds a Mission Editor on Every Platform

Void Interactive released Ready or Not version 1.5 on September 3 across PC and consoles, headlined by a Mission Editor. Ready or Not is a tactical SWAT shooter about clearing rooms with a team. The editor lets players tune suspect, civilian, and AI behavior, adjust player health and damage, set door traps, and build custom missions to share. It shipped alongside a trailer at the FPS Games Show.

Player impact: Console players finally get the kind of custom-scenario tools PC modders have leaned on, which extends the game well past its set campaign. Squads can now build and swap their own breach scenarios instead of rerunning the same maps.

Marvel's Wolverine Gets Its Final Trailer Before a September 15 PS5 Launch

Insomniac Games closed out the September 3 State of Play with a final trailer for Marvel's Wolverine ahead of its September 15 release on PS5. The clip put Logan alongside Jean Grey and Mystique. Wolverine is a standalone, story-driven game in the same continuity as Insomniac's Spider-Man games, and it stays a PS5 exclusive at launch.

Player impact: This is the big PlayStation single-player swing of the month, and it lands the same week the extraction crowd is watching Active Matter. If you own a PS5, decide now whether Wolverine jumps your backlog.

Metro 2039 Locks In February 4, 2027 With a New Gameplay Trailer

4A Games showed a fresh console gameplay trailer for Metro 2039 at the September 3 State of Play and set a February 4, 2027 release on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. Metro 2039 is the next first-person shooter in the post-apocalyptic Moscow series, following survivors fighting through the irradiated subway. The footage ran on PS5 Pro at 4K and 60 frames per second with ray tracing.

Player impact: Metro fans get a hard date and a first real look at how the sequel plays, not just a cinematic. February is already crowded, so expect a scramble for attention against other launches.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation Sets an April 8, 2027 Date and Goes Multi-Platform

Square Enix dated Final Fantasy VII Revelation for April 8, 2027 at the September 3 State of Play, with a roughly 10-minute gameplay deep dive. Revelation is the third and final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy. It launches on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series, and PC, and adds a new FITS system that lets party members swap combat roles like Warrior, Black Mage, or Summoner.

Player impact: The remake trilogy finally has an ending in sight, and going multi-platform means Xbox and Switch 2 players are not locked out this time. The role-swapping system is the big combat change to argue over.

Maneater 2 Surfaces at State of Play, Sending a Bull Shark Into a Water Park in 2027

Maneater 2, the sequel to 2020's shark-action game Maneater, debuted at the September 3 State of Play. It puts players in control of a bull shark tearing through Neptune's Kingdom, a private island and theme park, and is targeting a 2027 release. The reveal kept the same over-the-top, eat-everything tone as the original, with no exact date shown yet.

Player impact: The first Maneater was a goofy palate cleanser between serious games, and a sequel scratches that same itch. Keep it on the radar as a co-stream or between-grind pick, but wait for a date and gameplay before getting invested.

Nvidia's DLSS 5 Launches on RTX 50 Cards Only, Leaving RTX 40 Owners Out

Nvidia released DLSS 5 on September 3, starting with NBA 2K27, and it runs only on GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs, laptops, and GeForce Now. DLSS is Nvidia's AI upscaling that boosts frame rates by rendering at a lower resolution and rebuilding the image. Using DLSS 5 needs a new Game Ready driver. RTX 40 and older cards stay on DLSS 4.5, which is the split fueling the backlash.

Player impact: If you just bought an RTX 40 card, you are locked out of Nvidia's newest upscaler in supported games, which stings for a recent purchase. RTX 50 owners should grab the new driver, but expect a slow trickle of DLSS 5 titles at first.

Ghost of Yotei's Complete Edition Adds a Roguelike Mode and Brings Back Jin Sakai on October 1

Sucker Punch revealed the Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition at the September 3 State of Play, out October 1 on PS5. It bundles a new story expansion, Echoes of Sekigahara, that digs into Atsu's past, plus Most Wanted, a roguelike survival mode where you pick from four fighters and take escalating bounties. Jin Sakai, the lead from Ghost of Tsushima, is one of the playable characters, complete with his four combat stances.

Player impact: Owners get a real reason to reinstall: a fresh single-player expansion and a replayable roguelike mode in one drop. Jin Sakai as a playable fighter is the fan-service hook that will pull lapsed players back.
