In the past month I spoke to many wholesome developers. And they had at least two things in common: love for their craft and hatred for marketing. Unsurprisingly finding a way to sustain themselves doing that we love is also a common struggle. I’ve gathered the knowledge I had into an essay called “EvilCorp Syndrome” about sales, marketing and better ways to do it.

It isn’t a tutorial on “how to get rich fast”, more like a compass and a few essential bits we must internalise to make a dent in the problem.

And while we’re at the topic of bad rep - I stumbled upon a course Practical Deep Learning for Coders taught by Jeremy Howard back in 2022 and it’s absolutely brilliant. It is free, it teaches you everything you need to know about not just using some LLM API but composing and training your own great little models on your own machine or using free cloud resources.
