Race to build things
I wrote this post yesterday morning when it was supposed to go out. But buttondown, my publishing platform, temporarily flagged and disabled my account just when I hit publish. It was restored last night.

Hi! It is raining outside while I write this, it feels good. Specially after a really hot day like yesterday.
It was a long week for me. A lot of things and events both at work and outside. Some difficult, some urgent, some longstanding topics that needed to be finished. At the end of all of it, I was left with a feeling, a need, as I often do lately, that I need more hours in the day.
In this ultra-fast, hyper-speed timeline that we are living in, specially if you have any relation to the software engineering, things seem to be moving at a dizzying pace. Every day you don’t ‘take advantage’ of the incredibly knowledgeable assistants in the form of an LLM to build, improve, ideate, experiment something, feels like a wasted day.
Online, on the social-medias of the world, everyone seems to be dishing out two libraries and three fun projects per week, while juggling a full time job and raising two little cute babies.
It all seems like a bonus round in a game where you have to collect all the extra coins as fast as possible, because you know it won’t last forever. Meanwhile, the time still moves at the same speed, and you still have to sleep. There is only so much you can do in the rest of the hours.
Now, I understand that yes, one should not be paying too much attention to what others are doing and manage things according to their own schedules and time. But in reality, I feel that a lot of people are just walking towards an LLM induced burnout.
But well, each person has to decide what matters more to them and change the pace and course accordingly.
Yesterday was India’s independence day anniversary. There have been many stories and actual accounts written about the time, and specially the partition of India. I saw one of the recent movies ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’, made on a story of partition yesterday. It was beautiful, emotion, with some brilliant performances.

The only criticism that I have is that it could have been slightly shorter. Skip on the parts around the grandson’s standup bits, they are irrelevant to the story and not good.
