Garrison World Roundtable Event

I am taking part in a roundtable event at the Stout Research Centre on 6 May to discuss Charlotte Macdonald’s excellent recent book Garrison World: Redcoat Soldiers in New Zealand and across the British Empire.

If you are unable to attend in person there is a Zoom link in the details below to watch online.

The Stout Centre’s seminar series highlighting recent books opens with Charlotte Macdonald’s Garrison World. The book places the New Zealand Wars in a wider imperial framework and explores the lives of the thousands of soldiers, sailors and their families stationed in Aotearoa New Zealand through the period.

Join us for a conversation between the author and Vincent O’Malley and Peter Cooke—two experienced historians of the New Zealand Wars. Together they will explore Garrison World’s conception, development and place in historiography.
