The Slowdown: Digital Gardening, Bloom Scrolling, Cuticle Care, and more
The Rebellious Systems "Slowdown" — Issue #11 | October 2025
All of my blog posts, newsletters, and 1-1 emails are written by me — em dashes and all! If you wanna know how I use AI in my business, click here.
It’s been over a year since I last sent out an issue of The Slowdown and I’ll make absolutely no apologies for it.
Perhaps it was the iron infusion I had this week that’s given me the energy to feel inspired again? Also, I’ve been doing some digital gardening with Podge Thomas over the last few weeks and it’s made my internet consumption a lot more intentional and enriching—who knew that was still possible in 2025??
When I first launched The Slowdown, I had three categories: Introspection, Productivity, and Play. I haven’t used the word “productive” in a positive or serious way in a very long time, and I don’t like the idea of being boxed in with only three things, so I’ve decided to chuck those categories out the window and share whatever the hell I want (as I am wont to do).
Below are some things I want to amplify or share, because they matter to me right now. If there’s something you’d like to share back, feel free to pop it in the comments (or just reply to me directly).
📝 Things
is hosting a fundraiser/workshop to buy back the remaining 980 copies of their books, How to Not Always Be Working and Getting To Center, that still have their deadname on them.

”Here’s the thing: you don’t need a new system. You need to break up with the seventeen systems you started and never finished. In this workshop, we’ll help you ruthlessly declutter your digital chaos and create simple structures that actually stick—no complex workflows required.”Speaking of digital gardening, I got an email from mymind with the following graphic in it and it absolutely dazzled me!
I’ve been learning how to play chess on Duolingo for the past 77 days. High-five me if you care 😽 Did you know you can also play chess with friends in iMessage?
I haven’t been on Goodreads in years but was craving a place to track and talk about the books I’m
starting but not finishingreading. I came across Pagebound on TikTok and I’m obsessed (think if Goodreads and Reddit had a baby—without the use of AI). It’s a completely independent, self-funded team of two running it and they just launched their app on iOS and Android! If you decide to check it out, let’s be friends!
The branding is so fun too.I bought an e-bike. That’s all I have to say about that for now.
Have you heard of Horticultural Therapy? I hadn’t either until I met Jessica, founder of Basker, in Amanda Laird’s Decelerator program. Rabbit, meet hole. I’m obsessed.
”I help people use gardening and nature for emotional, physical, mental, and social well-being.”Photo by Thomas Verbruggen on Unsplash I’m doing “no nail damage November” until my birthday on November 19th. Starting November 1st, I’m wearing nothing but my manicurist serums. We’ll see if 2 weeks of that can reverse years worth of press-on glue.
My reward: Crybaby clown birthday nailsI’m working on a project I’m really excited about called Nervous Systems. I’m hoping to launch it early 2026! I just had a Brain Flow Session with Erin Shetron to flesh out the details and had to add her to this list before sending. If you’ve got a digital product you want to bring to life, check her out—she’s amazing!
Toodles!
