I'm probably not alone in my struggle to focus right now. I don't like how normal it is to compartmentalize tragic events for the sake of continuity and…what…capitalism?
I wanted to write you all a note to remind you to slow down. Feel what needs to be felt. If forcing normalcy doesn't feel right to you right now, trust your instincts.
Reschedule meetings. Put off your tasks to tomorrow. Get some fresh air. Watch some funny TikToks.
No, you're not being dramatic or unprofessional.
Even in saying all that I realize not everyone has the privilege of taking care of both their mental and physical needs in the midst of tragedy.
It's a lot. “It” being everything. So take it easy in whatever way is accessible to you right now.
When you're up for it, check out these resources to support those impacted by the recent hate crimes in Buffalo, Dallas, and Laguna Woods, and yesterday's mass shooting in Uvalde. And take action against gun violence.
