Spring cleaning (tech edition)
Plus, my latest fixations
All of my blog posts, newsletters, and 1-1 emails are written by me — em dashes and all! If you wanna know how I use AI in my business, click here.
Hello, darlings!
If you’re receiving this email, it’s because you were already subscribed to Rebellious Systems via Substack. If you no longer want to hang with me in your inbox, I will gracefully invite you to unsubscribe — no hard feelings!
I recently moved away from Substack to Buttondown for my newsletter. Truthfully, the more Substack becomes a “regular” social media channel, the less interested I am in being on the platform.
I’ve been contemplating leaving Substack for the last 2 years or so and finally decided it was time to make the switch in a spur-of-the-moment, dinnertime Diet Coke haze. I cannot handle my caffeine lol.
Anyhoo, I’m looking forward to this Buttondown era and all the new energy it’ll bring to this newsletter. I don’t have a comment section anymore (for now) but I’d still love to hear from you! Just reply to this email with all your ~thoughts and feels~
P.S. My post archive has also been migrated over to Buttondown. You can find old Substack posts here: https://buttondown.com/typeccreative/archive/

SPRING CLEANING YOUR TECH
I mentioned in last week’s newsletter that I’m in the process of moving. It has come with some (forced) Spring cleaning/decluttering as I decide what’s coming back with me to the Sunshine State. While it would be easier to just shove everything I own into a bag and deal with the mess later, there’s something super satisfying about lightening the load. And it’s made me want to do some decluttering in other areas too.
Here are some simple ways you can declutter your tech over the next few weeks:
Empty your downloads folder. Drag anything you’ve had to reference often into a “To file” folder and delete the rest.
Archive all the newsletters in your inbox you haven’t read. Seriously. If you really need that info, you can find it again later; if you haven’t read it yet, it’s not a priority right now, and that’s okay.
Create an ‘Archive’ dumping ground in your most unruly folder. My Contracts folder was in such disarray, I had no idea where the hell half of the documents had come from, or which ones were most up-to-date. So for the last several months, I’ve had to duct-tape everything together for each new client. I finally set aside 45 minutes to create one contract template and then put the rest in a folder called Archive. It’s saved my sanity.
Remove the due dates from tasks you’ve been putting off for a while. Truthfully, if you’ve been kicking a task down the road for several months, it’s likely not a task that’s going to provide a lot of value to you right now. Remove that due date, or reassign it for a date that’s 3, 5, 6 months into the future to get it out of your way. No point in feeling constant guilt over something less important you haven’t done yet.
Cancel that subscription you aren’t using. Like, literally, stop reading this and do it right now.

LATEST OBSESSIONS
Reality TV continues to run my life. I’m currently enjoying the latest seasons of Summer House, Ladies of London, House of Villains, Below Deck: Down Under, and Southern Hospitality; all while bravely pushing through Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Age of Attraction, and the Southern Charm reunions. I genuinely don’t know how I get anything done.
The Kennedy “Curse” (aka Deathly Male Incompetence & Moral Bankruptcy). I believe Ryan Murphy deserves pop culture jail for his many tv crimes (most recently, All’s Fair), but I’ll admit I’ve been intrigued by Love Story, a limited series dramatizing the romance and deaths of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette; tbh, it came across my desk while I was ovulating and I couldn’t say no to Paul Anthony Kelly’s face. I was only three years old when JFK Jr. died, and have never been much of a Kennedy head, so this show led me down a deep rabbit hole. Fortunately, Diabolical Lies released a 2-hour podcast episode about this wretched family and their
lorecrimes. Next, I’m planning to read Ask Not: The Kennedys and the Women They Destroyed.FLOWN. I mentioned it in a recent newsletter, but FLOWN got me through Mercury Retrograde. I have been using their “Dive In” session whenever I need a little boost in productivity. It’s the most introvert-friendly virtual coworking platform I’ve ever tried; no mics or small talk, I just pop in, write what I need to do in the chat, and get to work. You can try it for free for 30 days! (referral link, btw)
Duolingo Math. After over 200 days of playing chess with a mustached cartoon man named Oscar, I decided to switch over to Duolingo Math instead. Math has always been a very intimidating subject for me, and doing a little bit of practice each day has made numbers feel slightly less horrible. Though I must admit, the fractions section was super humbling.
What’s got you entertained, hopeful, inspired, interested, or hyper-fixated lately? Lemme know 🤓

Peace, love and workflows,
Andrea
