Let the Wildflowers Grow 🌺
You don't always have to do "the thing"
All of my blog posts, newsletters, and 1-1 emails are written by me — em dashes and all! If you wanna know how I use AI in my business, click here.
This morning, I saw an article in the Nice News newsletter that caught my attention. A couple in Vermont hated mowing their lawn, so they stopped. In place of mowing, they planted seeds. It resulted in 2.5 acres of wildflowers.
“We started this as not wanting to mow grass, never expecting it would become what it has,” Yacko said. “Now we’re helping the bees, we’re adding beauty to the landscape and we’re making the community happy.”
To me, this is a story of gorgeous rebellion. It made me think about my work, and why Rebellious Systems exists.
As neurodiverse/creative folks, we have an opportunity to grow our own wildflowers — at work, and in life. When I choose to ignore societal norms for a more aligned way of being, the result could be wildflowers!
This leads me to a very aligned offering from one of our community members. Rebellious Systems reader Podge Thomas is hosting a free workshop focused on alternative hiring practices called Employee Stewardship: A Simple Approach to Hiring on April 30. Register here
“At Small Business Co-Pilot, we reject authoritarian norms in favour of a hiring process that evens out the power imbalance between employers and candidates during this pretty stressful process. Join us for this 60 minute workshop where you'll learn how to bring simplicity and equity to hiring.”
