daylighted to share new music 🌞

introducing Daylight: my first music release this year

hi.

for those here for the sounds, I have a song and an ambient track out today.

introducing Daylight.

if you rent your music, this release is on all major streaming platforms (excluding amazon — just search if yours isn’t in the list).

if you buy your music, it’s on bandcamp.

Daylight, by TJ Manuel

something I’ve talked about with a number of creative friends recently is how to navigate the brutal, bizarre, and uniquely late-capitalist conundrum of announcing new work amidst the blistering news cycles we’ve grown all too accustomed to.

no one has figured it out, but here we are:

daylight, the song, was written by a 19-yr-old version of myself in the window nook of a house that has since burned down. it’s finally been rerecorded (with the incredible Keith Cary on steel).

orpheus, the ambient piece, is an elegy to the person who wrote daylight.

whatever places and whatever selves you might be grieving today, I hope this music is supportive.

and if you’re so inclined to share, I’d be deeply honored to know how these sounds find you. drop me a reply (really).

happy eclipse to those who celebrate or freak out,

tm

(PS — some of you will notice the new nom de plume. TJ Manuel is my new music project, and I’ll gradually move my back catalog over, if nothing breaks. by day, and at work, I’m still trace.)
