Brief Note

Moved from Substack to Buttondown!!

I know, I know — I just migrated from my old Substack account not long ago... and here I am, moving again.

This time, I'm sending out newsletters from a service with a rather stylish name: "Buttondown."
I've been poking around its features, and I have to say — I'm impressed.
Substack was great too, but it was more of an "everything taken care of for you" kind of deal — you could get a slick-looking site and newsletter without much effort on your part.

Buttondown, on the other hand, is more of a "you can tinker with everything yourself" kind of tool.
You can customize the CSS, and — best of all — it provides an API.
That means I can automate email delivery and even enrich content using AI. (In my case, I'm mainly thinking about translation and technical explanations.)

One key difference from Substack, Patreon, beehiiv, and the like is that there's no in-platform discovery.
No Notes, no Quips, no Recommendations feature.
That's a little lonely, I'll admit — but honestly, my content was never really driven by in-platform traffic anyway. Most of my visitors come from organic search, or they find me through Reddit, Tindie, or BOOTH. So I'll just keep doing my thing without relying on platform discovery.

Sorry... there's actually not much to report this time.
I've been dealing with some stomach issues this week, so I haven't made progress.

That said, here's what I had planned:
- Release the finalized v2.0 (as I mentioned last week)
- Record and publish a video showing the typing in action
Also, next month I'm planning to order the v2.2 PCBs and start building.(1, Aug: Ordered!!)

v2.2では

v2.2 will bring:
- Hot-swappable key switches
- A slightly narrower width (only a few millimeters, but still...)
Next PCB, already ordered!

Stomach troubles aside, I did manage to get a bit of work done.
I stuck to simple tasks that don't tax my brain too much — easy stuff, or things I'm already comfortable with.

That's it for this week.
