Cake, Wedding Three-Tier

2. colloq. The skyscraper of desserts, refusing to yield under the weight of matrimonial expectation.

Etymology. From Old Norse 'kaka' (cake), merging with Middle English 'weddung' (wedding), which itself derived from 'weddian' (to pledge). Originally more concerned with vows than vanilla.

The reception halted as the newlyweds approached their thiccc three-tier wedding cake. It was a crowd-control masterpiece.
