Canterbury Snow Outlook — nothing worth watching this fortnight

Canterbury Snow Outlook

The 14-day picture — the days worth watching.

Issued Monday 28 September 2026, 06:58 NZST · Outlook period next 14 days

The next fortnight looks snow-free for Canterbury's hill country, with nothing in the guidance worth keeping an eye on.

No day in the 15-day window carries a meaningful snow signal. The highest any-snow figure across the entire period reaches only 8% for the hill band around 300–500m — on Saturday — and the settling chance there peaks at just 2%. That is well below the threshold for even a passing mention under normal circumstances, and no day has been flagged as worth watching.

The rest of the window is flat. A few days around Thursday (8th) and Saturday (10th) show trace-level figures, but these are noise rather than signal — settling chances of 2–4% at most, with nothing on the plains at any point.

This is a genuinely quiet fortnight. No action needed; check back when the next run is issued.

The next Canterbury Snow Outlook goes out on Monday 5 October, or sooner if the picture changes. If a snow event moves within three days, paid subscribers also receive the detailed Canterbury Snow Forecast — the town-by-town, pass-by-pass picture.
