Canterbury Snow Outlook — nothing worth watching for two weeks

Canterbury Snow Outlook

The 14-day picture — the days worth watching.

Issued Monday 05 October 2026, 06:58 NZST · Outlook period next 14 days

No meaningful snow signal anywhere in the next 14 days for Canterbury.

The whole window is quiet. No day carries a watch flag, no settling chance reaches a level worth acting on, and even the any-snow figures for the hill band around 300–500m stay in the low single digits throughout — well below the threshold where a mention earns its place.

The most that shows up is a very faint hint of cold rain or the odd flake on the hills around Wednesday (14th) through Friday (16th), but the settling chance peaks at just 4% on Friday (16th) — firmly in "ignore it" territory at this range. Nothing on the plains registers at all.

No further comment needed. The Canterbury Snow Forecast will cover any near-term detail as the week unfolds.

The next Canterbury Snow Outlook goes out on Monday 12 October, or sooner if the picture changes. If a snow event moves within three days, paid subscribers also receive the detailed Canterbury Snow Forecast — the town-by-town, pass-by-pass picture.
