Canterbury Snow Outlook — a mid-week snow window, then a string of low-chance days through to late September
Canterbury Snow Outlook
The 14-day picture — the days worth watching.

A mid-week cold snap brings the best snow signal of the fortnight on Wednesday and Thursday, though settling snow at hill-farm level remains a low chance even on the stronger day.
Tomorrow is clear of any snow signal. The window opens Wednesday, when there is a low-to-moderate chance of some snow falling on the hill band around 300–500m — guidance has flagged it worth watching, but the settling chance is negligible at around 2%. Thursday is the stronger day: snow falling on the hills looks likely at some point, with the any-snow chance running around 60–67%, and that signal has been firming across recent forecast runs. Even so, the settling chance on Thursday sits at only around 6–8% for the hill country — so while flakes are likely to reach foothill level, lying snow is the minority outcome. Lower ground can expect rain rather than snow on both days. Friday clears quickly.
Beyond that, Saturday carries a watch flag but the numbers are low — a small chance of some snow falling on the hills, settling very unlikely. The same applies to Monday (21st) and Tuesday (22nd), and again to Thursday (24th) further out. These are all low-chance, worth-a-glance entries rather than events to plan around; at 10 or more days' range the guidance is carrying real uncertainty and any of these could fade or sharpen considerably by the time they arrive.
In short: Wednesday and Thursday are the only days this fortnight with a meaningful snow signal, and even then the story is flakes on the hills rather than lying snow. The rest of the window is quiet, with a scatter of low-chance watch days that are worth keeping an eye on but nothing more at this stage.
