Our mind/consciousness is a grow-able space inside of us. Isn’t that a trip? It can take any shape, it can convince us that things are real or not real, and it can be filled with both horrors and wonders.

Since coming back from Comic-Con in San Diego this year, I am thinking about expandable consciousness often. Comic-Con gathers a gazillion people all going around appreciating that wonderful positive way that imagination grows our minds, and giving love to the stories and the artists and creators who make that possible (which includes the attendees themselves).

Every book and figure and costume and panel discussion and conversation and piece of art is giving out a gift of space. It is so important and wonderful to see this happen on such a huge scale, and to go amongst all of these sensitive and marvelous people.

Things emerge from the inner space, because we are this trippy species that imagines and has vision and makes plans and has opinions and worries and makes pictures and poems and songs in our heads.

The arts share that inner space with people, and gives it to them so they have a chance to expand it within themselves. An artist makes a little doorway or staircase or path through the forest, and then other people can run around on/in it. Isn’t that splendid?

So go and read and listen and watch and make things and use that imagination space for yourself. It is yours, it does not have to be occupied with the selling of things or external suggestions of ways you can be insecure or inadequate. You can fill it with dinosaurs and music notes and silliness and dogs and cats and anything you want.
