SENSATIONAL SESSION.
I’m going to go for something from The Yellow King RPG, the RPG of supernatural horror based on the works of Robert W. Chambers. This session is from the Paris section of Cassilda’s Song (Robin D. Laws's four-book campaign, which will be coming when it’s ready from Pelgrane Press.
I can’t give too much away as it is a playtest and may be very different when it gets a commercial release. I know, I know, well done Jim for choosing something you can’t comment on! But maybe I can give a flavour.
Firstly, it’s Belle Epoque Paris, the 1890s, and you play Paris Art Students, already you can feel the upping of outrageous accents and extreme bouts of flouncing. Plus no cafe can be passed without partaking of a quick glass of rouge. So questionable drunken decisions were the name of the game.
Secondly, I think I can safely say, that the group are on the lookout for something that crawled out of the Seine and is now running amok in the district of Neuilly. The session in question took place in the crypt and then the bell tower of a church but the lead-up to it involved dressing up in skirts, accosting choir boys, making friends with a cabby and of course frequent cafe breakouts to discuss the case. What was so memorable was the feeling of triumph within the party that quickly turned to guilt and sorrow, as they wondered if they were really… the baddies.☠
Happy memories and this was perhaps more a shout-out to an incredible campaign with excellent players past and present that has been running for nearly two years… we’re just about to enter the Aftermath.
