RPG WITH WELL SUPPORTED CAMPAIGNS.

Obvious I suppose, but I remember this seemed quite revolutionary at the time, I’m talking about Call of Cthulhu.

A castle, investigators, tentacle and a car
Call of Cthulhu 3rd edition

Back in the day we were used to playing dungeon crawls, perhaps large sprawling dungeon crawls, but contained to one location. Call of Cthulhu suddenly had us hopping on a plane to Butan or paying for passage on a steamer to Istanbul, everything seemed epic and world-spanning, we HAD to go to the ends of the world to defeat Great Cthulhu, or more realistically, to curl up in a bawl and cry for mummy.

In the 7th edition, I’ve had the pleasure of playing The Two-Headed Serpent since I came back to the hobby and this reminded me of all the epic campaigns… that I never got to play, but they were all there; Beyond the Mountains of Madness, Masks of Nyarlathotep, Horror on the Orient Express even Shadows of Yog- Sothoth had a rustic appeal, nod and a wink to Fabio.

It’s great to see this tradition continuing 40 years later; Two-Headed Serpent, Children of Fear and I’m sure there are many more in the pipeline. Other companies have followed suit, including Impossible Landscapes for Delta Green and Eternal Lies for Trail of Cthulhu, two different systems, but campaigns that are gaining similar legendary status and quite possible to convert them to Call of Cthulhu.

So waste no time, start on your journey today; An impossible quest, a dangerous mission, or the ultimate campaign to save all mankind!
