RPG THAT IS EASY TO USE

Being a fan of investigative horror RPGs and in particular Cosmic Horror, I’ve got to go for Cthulhu Dark (possibly in the future Cosmic Dark as I know it is soon to be released 🙏).

Some kind of octopoid cosmic horror reaches out from the dark - Cthulhu Dark
Cthulhu Dark by Graham Walmsley

This game is the perfect narrative-focused RPG for horror and has the best rule ever written... If you try to defeat any supernatural creature
by fighting it, you will die
. To me this gets to the heart of Cosmic Horror, you don’t give great Cthulhu an uppercut, you avoid its gaze, hiding gibbering in a corner somewhere as your brain melts, if you’re lucky!

The game is from Graham Walmsley and I encourage people to follow his Patreon, where he drops regular gaming gems, as well as progress on his various systems and adventures.

Graham has also written, IMO, the definitive guidebook on how to write for gaming in a Cosmic Horror / Cthulhu Mythos setting, Stealing Cthulhu.

Lastly, if you are looking for an adventure to kick things off I’d recommend two; The first is by Scott Dorward and is called Fairyland, check out too the horrific and horrifically funny podcast of the same name by Ain’t Slayed Nobody. The second is Goodcliffe by Anthony Lee-Dudley, which can be found in the Hypergraphia Magazine.
